Nan in a Van (NIAV), is a series of e-books which use digital avatars to present the story in both Cued English and British Sign Language. Designed entirely for Special Educational Needs (SEN) including deaf children, this is a first in deaf education and gives SEN children equality of access to a literacy resource.

The books match the roll-out of phonemes recommended by the government’s own Letters and Sounds programme. Included in the resource pack is, ten hard-copy books versions, five lesson plans per book, pupil activity sheets for each lesson and a card game which supports children with phonic awareness, segmenting and blending.  The resource pack includes training and support from us to educators. It is the first of its kind in the UK.
